University Community Gets Ready for Historic Visit
Students, faculty, and staff of Catholic University participated in a variety of ways in the preparations for the visit of Pope Francis.
- A project in the School of Architecture and Planning engaged students in a competition to design the altar, chair, and other furnishings for the papal Mass. Read more about the altar design.
- Academic lectures and discussions have focused attention on various aspects of Church teaching that Pope Francis has emphasized in his pontificate. Read more about academic events.
- Logistical work was undertaken to make sure the campus was ready to receive the Holy Father and the thousands of Catholic faithful who came to Catholic University for this historic event.
- Campus Ministry hosted community service activities for students in response to Pope Francis’s repeated calls to put faith into action. A parallel social media campaign, #WalkingwithFrancis, highlighted service through photos and reflections from members of the University community.
