Meters Removed in Preparation for Papal Visit

On Tuesday, Sept. 1, several parking meters were removed from the lot between the University Mall and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The meters were removed for appearance and safety reasons in anticipation of Pope Francis’s Sept. 23 visit to campus. That day, Pope Francis will celebrate Mass on the East Portico of the Basilica. During the Mass, Pope Francis will canonize American missionary Blessed Junípero Serra.

New parking meters will be installed after the visit.
